A Taste of the Middle East
A group of girls from Yemen have been studying at our language school learning Bahasa as well, and Amber has been longing for opportunities to get to know them better. They came to Indonesia around the same time we did, and only two of them speak some English, so communication has presented a challenge. However, a couple of weeks into Ramadan they invited Amber and Sarah (our teammate) to their home to break the fast.
The meal was delicious (it included tabbouleh, samosas, dates straight from Saudi, goat soup, hummus, homemade honey bread, and "green coffee"), and the night was full of laughter and joy. At one point one of the girls said, "We have been so lonely here... we are so full of joy to have guests. You make us feel like we are at home." I (Amber) felt the same way. Their sense of humor reminded me of my own family!
A few days later, another girl stopped by our home, dropped off more fresh dates, and nervously asked me (Amber), "My family was wondering... would it be okay if we make plans with you?" I was so touched and heartily agreed to the offer. We are so excited to see what may come from these new, sweet friendships.

Speaking Opportunity
At the end of June, Amber will be speaking at a youth event about relationships--specifically on what a healthy dating relationship looks like and why that is important. Please be praying for wisdom and courage. This is my first time sharing at an event in Indonesian!
